2026 Credit Union CEO Succession Training Program-First Session

Small credit unions have long been the lifeblood of the credit union movement. They serve members in unique ways, with the ability to deeply understand niche markets and develop products and services that meet their needs. They connect meaningfully to their communities in ways that help elevate their economic capacity. It is only with passionate and talented leaders that small credit unions can thrive in the face of competitive threats, fast-changing technology, and increasing regulatory burden. In scenarios where staff size is small and leaders wear multiple hats, development and succession planning is challenging. Despite its importance, it is hard to find the time to develop and build a next generation of leaders. 

This program supports small credit unions in their succession planning, by developing a cohort of leaders across the small credit union ecosystem in California and Nevada. The outcome will be a group of prepared executives, ready to step into CEO and executive level positions during times of transition, equipped with unique knowledge of how to lead small credit unions to success.

Inclusions:
This ten-month program incorporates group learning and individual coaching, combining virtual and in-person settings. Participants will complete a Harrison Assessment and receive individualized reports that identify their behaviors, preferences, and interests relative to behaviors, preferences, and interests of successful leaders. 

Sessions will emphasize:

• Leading Self  
• Leading Others  
• Leading Organizations  
• Leading in the Credit Union System 

 Education will be delivered through eight (8) 90-minute virtual sessions, two (2) 2- to 3-hour in-person sessions, and two (2) 60-minute individual coaching sessions.
