2022 Utah Legislative Update

During the legislative session we spent a lot of time at the capitol meeting with policy makers and monitoring bills to ensure credit unions were part of the conversation and not dragged through the mud.

Here are a few items of note:

  • We worked with legislators to get carved out of a Towing Amendments bill that contained unfavorable provisions for credit unions.
  • We were able to clarify that CUs weren’t subject to a Digital Assets Amendments bill.
  • We worked with legislators to be carved out of Consumer Privacy Amendments; a bill that would have otherwise subjected CUs to an additional layer of consumer privacy requirements.
  • We killed three anti-ESG bills that were directly aimed at financial institutions.
