Compliance training

Some of you may already know that we are conducting our annual compliance training series a bit differently this year.  While making plans for 2022, Liz White (our Director of Education and Training) and I discussed some objectives:

  • After 18 months of online training, we wanted to get back to having compliance classes in person (with all the great discussions and networking that come with that).
  • We still wanted an online component to ensure compliance training is accessible to all our credit unions no matter the location or size.
  • We wanted to see if it was possible to continue to offer compliance training for free.
  • We wanted to update the curriculum that I’ve been using for many years.
  • We wanted to make compliance training new and exciting (well, as much as it can be)

Welcome to Compliance Essentials, our totally revamped, dues supported (aka FREE) compliance training. Here are some features of our new classes:

  • All classes are FREE to member credit unions.
  • All classes will by hybrid – we will hold an in-person class at the UCUA offices and broadcast on the web simultaneously.
  • All classes will be recorded for later viewing.
  • Instead of four all-day classes held every other month, we will hold a single two-hour class monthly.
  • Three times a year we will combine the monthly Compliance Essentials class with a Compliance Crüe meeting (I cover emerging compliance issues in these meetings)
  • We will have all-new curriculum. We are stepping back from our old comprehensive curriculum and focusing on the topics you are most likely to encounter as a credit union compliance professional and topics that always prompt the most questions.

We are already accepting registrations for our first Compliance Essentials class, Share Account FAQs, scheduled for Thursday, January 20th from 10AM – 12 PM.  Click here to register for this class.  Watch your email for invitations to future classes.
