Professional Development

We offer a robust schedule of professional training on a variety of topics throughout the year. The training is offered as online sessions through our Ignite Leadership Series and Compliance Training classes. We also host a hybrid in-person and online training for IRA Essentials and IRA Advanced classes in November. You can download a complete calendar of our training events here.


Ignite Leadership Series

We have a great lineup of valuable topics and dynamic speakers! The Ignite Series is made to improve your leadership skills and help you be the best leader you can be. It would be valuable to anyone in your organization who leads a team, from frontline to CEOs.

The topics and presenters for the 2024 Ignite Series includes:

  • April 2, 2024: Find the Energy & Confidence to Thrive as a Leader Part 1 with Juan Bendana
  • June 6, 2024: Find the Energy & Confidence to Thrive as a Leader Part 2 with Juan Bendana
  • August 8, 2024: Self-Care & Compassion: How to Help Employees be their best at work & home with Ty Reed
  • October 2024: Thriving Through Change with Tracy Travis
  • December 3, 2024: The Upside: Managing Negativity with Jack Stahlman

Each event will take place online at 10:00 a.m. MST and runs approximately 60 minutes. They will be recorded for later viewing. Check our Calendar/Event link for more information and links to the event registration site for each training class.


@Lunch Networking

The Utah Credit Union Association has expanded its efforts to gather credit union professionals in a series of round tables focused on distinct operational areas.

Called @Lunch Networking, the round tables will initially cover these areas of operations on these days:

  • Collections, April 10
  • CEOs, April 11
  • Organizational development (people, culture, talent development), May 1
  • CFOs/Accounting/ALM, May 8
  • Lending, June 4
  • Tech (data, systems, service delivery via tech), June 19

Registration is now open for these round tables. Check our calendar for the links. Future round tables for this coming fall will be determined after the initial events.

Benefits of participating in the @Lunch Networking round tables are:

  • A broader network of peers to draw from.
  • Increased knowledge of industry practices.
  • No-cost lunch.


Compliance Training

We also have a variety of online compliance classes, taught by our very own Heather Line. They can also be viewed on the training calendar listed above. These compliance trainings are covered by your Annual Dues and are no additional cost to your organization.

  • August 22, 2024: Fair Lending
  • September 26, 2024: MLO Compliance
  • November 21, 2024: Advertising Compliance
  • December 12, 2024: Compliance Resources Potluck

IRA Training

The IRA Essentials and Advanced classes are presented by Ascensus and are offered in a hybrid in-person and online format. The training lasts all day and is offered during the first part of November. The dates will be added to the event calendar on this website once the dates have been confirmed. At that time, you will find links to our event registration website.


eTrain Webinars

eTrain Webinars, offered in conjunction with the California and Nevada Leagues, provides credit unions with another training option. These webinars are offered as a Power Learners Passport package or individually. Over 70 eTrain Webinars are offered throughout the year in a convenient, anytime training format for executives, managers, volunteers, and every department in your credit union. We purchased as a package you receive a tremendous value for your training dollar. The more you train, the more you save over the regular webinar costs.

Conferences

Each year our Professional Development Department offers educational sessions at our annual Credit Union Summit, Executive Summit, and Volunteer Summit conferences.
