Rusty joined the Utah Credit Union Association in July of 2024 as President and Chief Advocacy Officer. Prior to that, Rusty was the President of the Utah Taxpayers Association, which serves as the state tax watchdog on income, property and sales tax issues at the state, local and national level. Rusty has a deep interest in public policy and has always had the “political bug” in him.
Earlier in his career, Rusty worked as the Director of Government Relations for Melaleuca in Idaho Falls, ID and spent 15 years in the Investment Advisory industry. Rusty earned a BA in Finance from the University of Utah. Rusty enjoys golf, skiing, snowboarding and became an Ironman in 2021. Now taking it easy on his knees, he enjoys the outdoors with his wife Lisa living in Farmington, Utah. Rusty and Lisa have five children who are growing up and leaving the nest.
Stephen has worked in the credit union industry since the Monday after Y2K, spending a great deal of time consulting with credit unions on a myriad of topics. During those decades he’s developed a broad repertoire, which recently has turned to data and analytics. Practical and hands on, Stephen wants to know how to do stuff and apply high-level concepts. Lately he’s led the development of advocacy software that helps credit unions analyze their membership in relation to the voter population.
Stephen done got his book learnin’ from the University of Utah in English, public relations, business management, and information systems. He prefers to sleep several miles from the nearest trailhead, is a heavy consumer of audio books, and loves road trips, board games, and living in quiet Erda, Utah with his wife (his favorite person). They have 3 kids in varying stages of transitioning to adulthood.
