Chartway Credit Union

A Bright Way Since 1959
On September 4, 1959, seven civilian workers at the Norfolk Naval Air Station each invested $5 and incorporated NorVA N.A.S. Federal Credit Union. From its earliest days, members included both civilian and military personnel, along with their families. The charter also extended to employees of the credit union and their families. The main purpose of this new credit union that eventually evolved into the modern Chartway brand was to provide low-cost loans and serve as a convenient place for members to save and grow their finances.

Chartway has continued to grow and prosper by attracting new members and by expanding its presence in Utah and Texas. Now serving more than 190,000 members, Chartway’s long-celebrated “People First” commitment continues to help its communities thrive financially.
