John J. (Jack) Welsh
was inducted into the credit union hall of fame on
March 15, 2003
Jack Welsh has exemplified the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” throughout his many years of service to the credit union movement.
Jack was instrumental in relocating Benicia Arsenal Credit Union, known today as Tooele Federal Credit Union, to Tooele Army Depot in 1961. He has displayed personal commitment to the credit union movement by volunteering for over 50 years. During those 50 years, while serving on TFCU’s board of directors, he has held the position of chairman for ten terms.
He has and continues to share his leadership and visionary direction on a state and national level. At the state level, he served on the board of the Utah League of Credit Unions for 15 years, for a time as its chairman. At the national level, Jack was a well-respected CUNA director for 5 years. Throughout his years of service to the credit union movement, Jack has been an active participant on many local, state, and national credit union committees.
Jack continues to work to make his credit union the best possible benefit to its members. His progressive thinking and commitment to credit union members have greatly contributed to the success and growth of the credit union movement. Jack is a true credit union pioneer.
