The 2023 Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) was held last month and provided another year of great learning and success.
This year, the WCMS commencement included 82 graduates, 13 of which were from Utah. Of those Utah graduates, Jared Buttars (Utah Community Credit Union) and Dave Nellis (America First Credit Union) both graduated with “Honors.” Congratulations to all the graduates!

Students attend the school for three two-week terms over consecutive summers and complete a written project between each term. The university level faculty is made up of distinguished professors, attorneys, high level credit union professionals and consultants.
This year the curriculum included an intensive WCMS Innovation Challenge team-based competition that dared students to be change makers for their members. Students engaged with faculty from the Claremont Graduate University, Filene Research Institute, Pomona College, UCLA Anderson School of Management and ISC Bovard Graduate College, as well as distinguished leaders within the credit union movement.
These students are working to become even better leaders in the credit union movement and devote great time and effort in their journey. Great work and congratulations to all!
